History - 1911

The plants of Škoda started the development and production of own machines in Pilsen in 1911, when began to develop the arms production. However many years ago, before that, the production of steel and with it associated also the production of casts and forgings with bigger weight and dimension began to increase. There arised the urgency to equip the workshops with machines with different dimensions and outputs, which was not possible to buy neither by renowed european factories. This situation led to make a decision about starting the production of machines, which complied these requirements, with the emphasizing of machining accuracy of huge and heavy machine components.
